Designate charitable organizations to friends and loved ones to donate in your name

Planned Giving

MyLifeTalks features a planned giving aspect. How many times has the family been attempting to figure out the ‘in lieu of flowers’ part of the obituary as the deceased had many interests or conversely, didn’t mention anything specific? Stating that you would like friends to donate to a designated cause, university, school or any 501c3 assists loved ones in carrying out your wishes and helps the organization you designate.

Origin Story

Funeral Services
Dr. Benny Jones’ mentor was Dr. Jack Glaze while in college and seminary. They kept in loose contact over the years. Dr. Glaze passed away in October 2018. Unfortunately, Dr. Jones did not hear about his death until March 2019. Had he been informed in a timely fashion Dr. Jones would have attended Dr. Glaze’s funeral services. This sad set of circumstances led Dr. Jones to think, “There must be a better way to let people know of a death.” After all, not everyone is on Facebook and not everyone has updated contact info for the family to access, etc.

Dr. Jones brought the idea to J.T. Hannan; who was working in planned giving and development. J.T. and Dr. Jones then brought the idea to Jim Benson, a successful businessman and attorney. J.T. and Jim were in the same fraternity at Loyola University New Orleans and Jim invested in the concept. A close friend of Jim and J.T.’s died suddenly during development which brought home the need to have a more organized notification system for friends and family during a tragedy.
